HANDBAGS
Handbags Spring 23-Fall 24

What began with the original hand-made plush purse has since grown into a full ecosystem of sculptural handbags, duffles, and wallets — all built from the same soft, exaggerated fabrication that defined the brand’s DNA from day one. Marshall continued to refine the plush construction, introducing durable interiors, dimensional quilting, and his signature knotted rope straps, creating a recognizable language of shape and texture. Each silhouette is named after flowers and plants — Magnolia, Willow, Moonflower, Poppy, and Lotus — reflecting the organic curves, softness, and personality embedded in the designs.

Across seasons, these forms have become the foundation of the brand’s world, reappearing in new colors, scales, and surface treatments, and serving as the base for major collaborations. From Swarovski crystal embellishment to Hello Kitty characters, and Disney’s Little Mermaid characters, the same core silhouettes evolve without ever losing their playful, cartoon-alive identity.

Cash App x Marshall Columbia

The Cash App × Marshall Columbia Pink Capsule transformed finance-brand minimalism into bold lifestyle fashion. Launched in Fall 2023 as part of Cash App’s “Pink Drop,” the collaboration centered around a puffy handbag and plush wallet in saturated Cash-card pink, fusing practical utility with Marshall Columbia’s playful, sculptural aesthetic. The capsule also introduced a special-edition Pink Cash Card featuring Columbia’s signature graphics, turning everyday objects into joyful statement pieces.

Disney x Marshall Columbia
The Disney × Marshall Columbia capsule — created for Disney’s 100th Anniversary — reimagines a childhood classic through a rebellious, street-wise lens. Inspired by ’90s nostalgia and under-the-sea fantasy, the collection includes strappy dresses, mermaid-tail-like leggings, rhinestone-shell baby tees, ruffled mini-skirts, silk scarves, and character-accented versions of Columbia’s signature bags. Rather than a sweet tribute, Ariel is recast as an adult with attitude and confidence, transforming nostalgic Disney iconography into bold, wearable fashion rooted in identity, play, and empowerment.

Swarovski x Marshall Columbia

The Swarovski × Marshall Columbia collaboration reimagines playful nostalgia as jeweled fashion. The two-purse collection — including the Micro Poppy plush purse — features Swarovski crystal embellishment, tassels, and knotted details inspired by childhood arts-and-crafts, and was sold exclusively at Swarovski pop-ups inside Nordstrom. Vivid color, plush texture, and sparkling adornment transform each bag into a wearable memory object that blends innocence with high-glamour energy and the irreverent spirit of Marshall Columbia.

Hello Kitty x Marshall Columbia
The Hello Kitty × Marshall Columbia collaboration celebrated Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary through a nostalgic yet distinctly grown-up lens. Marshall Columbia designed three variations of his signature Poppy purse featuring Kuromi, Keroppi, and Hello Kitty, along with four plush wallets inspired by My Melody, Hello Kitty, LittleTwinStars, and Keroppi, and a limited-edition Hello Kitty silk scarf. The capsule reimagined beloved Sanrio characters through Columbia’s playful, sculptural aesthetic — merging childhood joy with bold, collectible accessories built for a new generation of fans.

Classic Plush Purse

The journey began with Marshall Columbia’s hand-made plush handbags — the original colorful, beaded “cartoon purses” he crafted in his apartment during lockdown.  What started as modest pieces sold on Depop quickly snowballed. These neon-hued, glass-bead-embellished plush purses became cult objects, selling out repeatedly and capturing the attention of a growing audience.

Each bag was conceived to look like a real 3-D cartoon object — soft, exaggerated in shape, and alive with color. Dangling beads on many of the purses created a tufted, handmade texture that recalled childhood crafting sessions and DIY artistry. As one of the first pieces from Marshall Columbia’s creative universe, these handbags established the brand’s signature aesthetic — playful, bold, tactile, and unapologetically joyful.

That early success laid the foundation for a broader collection and formal brand launch, proving that handmade nostalgia could become the cornerstone of a fashion label.
